Brand Focus: REN

Another day, another skincare brand on my radar. I’ve been using different REN Skincare products for a good few years now, and so far, I have loved almost everything that I used. Aside from a face scrub (which I don’t enjoy in general), all of their products from cleansers to masks and serums have been lovely and definitely deserve an honorable mentions.

Now, it’s kind of hard to situate REN in a specific category in the skincare realm. They promise to offer only plant-based, non-synthetic ingredients but I don’t think their a strictly organic brand. Plus, the packaging and marketing invokes a highly technological and clinical feel to the products, ‘high-tech natural’, so to speak.

What I definitely know though, is that I love their products and really value them in my routine. If I am looking for a failsafe product that slots right into my skincare line-up, I look to REN.

REN Skincare

One of my favorite products so far has been the Rosa Centifolia Cleansing Gel, which is a gel to cream cleaner that refreshes and nourishes the skin without stripping it. I love this in the summertime as it is not to heavy and makes my skin feel fresh and clean.

In the winter months, I prefer a thicker formula cleanser and for this, I like to go back to the No.1 Purity Cleansing Balm. This is a thicker, oilier balm that feels super luxurious on the skin and comes with a lovely rose scent just like the gel cleanser. It leaves the face soft and nourished without any residue, so it’s a winner for me.

My all-time favorite and arguably their best-known product is the Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask. A chemical exfoliant, this leaves my face soft and clear by eating away at the dead skin cells that dull my complexion. This doesn’t irritate my skin, smells and fells lovely and makes my face look a lot clearer and brighter in a matter of 10 minutes.

Finally, their Vita Mineral Omega 3 Optimum Skin Serum Oil is a lovely penultimate step in my routine, especially when my skin is feeling dry and lackluster. It is more of an oil than a serum, so I definitely use this more in the colder months as it provides a hefty dose of hydration and feels extremely soothing on the skin.

Have you tried anything from REN before? How did you like it? For me, this brand is  real staple and one that I rely on for great skin without much hassle.

Caudalie Vinosource SOS Serum

With my beloved Hydraluron nearing its final squeeze, it was time for me to look for something new to fill the serum slot in my skincare routine. Being a bonafide fan of french pharmacy products, I turned towards Caudalie to fill my need and purchased their lovely Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum.

The name itself would have been enough to sway me, promising to aide with hydration issues and giving life back to my perpetually lackluster skin. Adding to that, I had read and seen more than a handful of rave reviews for this product, so when I went into the pharmacy to pick up some supplemental supplies, it really was a no-brainer when I spotted this on the shelf.

So, is it really as good as everyone says? In short, yes.

It is a beautiful, lightweight serum that leaves the skin feeling quenched and plumped without a trace of grease. It is a pleasure to put on even in the summer heat as it is very thin in texture and almost weightless on the skin. And after a few uses, it has visibly helped with textural issues stemming from dehydration such as fine lines on my forehead and flaky skin around my chin and nose. The scent, too, is gorgeous. Clean and somewhat floral, it is present but only lightly so, leaving me feeling fresh instead of nauseous.

To drive the point of this rave home, I have already thought about repurchasing and stocking up on this beautiful serum even though I am only a good couple weeks into using it. But what can I say, when it’s right, it’s right.

Indeed Labs Hydraluron

A few years ago, when the serum craze got started throughout the beauty community, so many people were raving about the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Facial Serum.

As always, I am a bit late to the party but I finally got my hands on one of these little tubes and I am ready to share my opinion. Formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, Hydraluron is supposed to help with moisture retention in the skin in order to reduce dehydration, dry patches and fine lines.

The gel serum itself is pretty basic, so I think it would be suitable for even the most sensitive of skins. What you have to be careful about, however, is the amount you apply to the skin. When using to much, things can get a bit sticky and uncomfortable, so I would recommend a pea-sized amount on a damp face for best results (I use a hydrating spray toner right beforehand and put the serum on before it sinks in).

What I noticed immediately with this is that whatever you put on afterwards goes onto the face incredibly smoothly and somehow seems to penetrate deeper into the skin. I usually use this in the mornings and my face stays nice and hydrated throughout the day, which is one of my main concerns. I also find that Hydraluron works much better under make-up than an oil as it doesn’t interfere with any other base products.

So while it is a pretty basic skincare product – there’s no scent or color to rope you in – I really think Hydraluron is a beautiful serum that lifts any product used afterwards. You can definitely use this on its own or even put on a more luxe hydrating serum or oil afterwards to get the most out of those products as well.

I also love the no-fuss packaging that enables you to use up every last drop of the product and with its high efficacy, I think the 30ml in here will last me a good while.
